Minister of Environment, Keheliya Rambukwella, has submitted his resignation to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, and the President has accepted it.

The decision comes in the wake of the minister’s arrest by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) regarding the substandard Human Immunoglobulin import issue.

Rambukwella, who was remanded until February 15, has been admitted to the Prisons Hospital on medical advice.
