SJB MP Hesha Withanage and TNA MP Shanakiyan Rasamanickam have also stepped down from the Committee on Public Enterprises (CoPE).

“Today, I resigned from the COPE committee as it’s no longer focused on public enterprise but rather on Pohottuwa Enterprises with someone like Rohitha Abey as Chair,” Shanakiyan stated in a press conference.

Previously, SLFP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara, SLPP MP Prof. Charitha Herath, and SJB MP S.M. Marikkar also resigned from the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE).

These resignations follow SLPP MP Rohita Abegunawardane’s appointment as chairman.
