Transport, Highways, and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana announced the allocation of Rs.10 billion for the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections during a Cabinet media conference.
The funds are designated exclusively for this year’s elections.
Meanwhile the amendments proposed by the Commission of Inquiry, as per a special gazette, will not affect the elections in 2024 and 2025.
Minister Gunawardhana emphasised managing expenses within the allocated budget amid the government’s financial constraints.
